Common Sleep Disorders

Sleep disorders are common and have a negative impact on personal health, productivity, and quality of life. Sleep is not merely “Time Out” from daily life. It is an active state essential for mental and physical restoration. However, more than 100 million Americans of all ages regularly fail to get a good night's sleep.

Some 84 different sleep disorders endanger public safety by contributing to traffic and industrial accidents. Sleeping disorders include problems falling asleep, staying asleep, difficulties staying awake or adhering to a consistent sleep/wake cycle, sleepwalking, bedwetting, nightmares, or other problems that interfere with sleep.

Each of us desires to feel the best we can at any given moment. We look forward to the time we can go to sleep and rejuvenate for another day. Take the self-test, “How well do you sleep?” If the test shows you have some of the symptoms of a sleep disorder, talk to your doctor about further testing.
